AAAHHHH!!! I can’t believe in two months or possibly less I will be looking into the face of my little girl. Our little girl, who at this moment is kicking me for sitting in this chair too long, is nameless at this point. My little man will be roomless once she arrives if we don’t get on the ball. I feel the holidays creeping up and yet am quite calm cuz I did some early Christmas shopping. Yea me!! I would like to start decorating, but first I have to finish unpacking from our Thanksgiving travels. In these moments, I stop, take in the deepest breath I can since she is on my lungs…and I remember the ol’ saying “Jesus is the reason for the season!!!” Thanking God for all His goodness and praying for His strength as the days move forward.
Happy Birthday, Lance!!!
What’s a widget?
I have no idea, but that is what the thing to your right is called. Thank you to Ruth and Rachel for the stolen idea. It is very cool to watch the baby’s development. The other night Lance says, “I took on an extra project to develop a widget for this client.” I just laughed. I hadn’t heard the word til Ruth mentioned it on her blog, and then Lance comes home and says it. Then I knew I just had to have one. Only 88 days til she gets here? THAT’S CRAZY!!!
Happy Birthday, Asher!!!
Nana (Lance’s mom) came in to celebrate
His birthday donut
Helping Mommy make the cake
A simple way to do a Thomas cake 🙂
A few presents
Loving the attention
His favorite part
FINALLY getting to play with his presents
As always there are more pictures at Flickr, just go click on the pictures to your right. He had such a fun party and has loved playing with all his new toys. We have had a busy couple of days since the party, a lot of them spent away from the house. He walks in the door and sees all the new toys (not put away yet just piled in my living room), and it is like his bday all over again. He runs from one thing to another soooo excited to play. I just love to watch his reactions.
Yesterday was his 2 year check-up. He really doesn’t like the nurses but reacts well to the doctor. He weighed in at 26 pounds, 25th percentile…doctor was so excited cuz it is the highest percentile he has been in since 3 months old. He is only topping out the 10th percentile in height at 32.5 inches. He he 🙂 , I have a small, short little man, and might I add with no buns. Now that we are in underwear, his pants are constantly falling off. Oh well, he’ll probably be just like his Daddy, growth spurt in high school, now is 6’1″. Tall and skinny….just how I like ’em.
Today he turned 2!
Today at 5:42 a.m. , my precious baby boy turned 2 years old. I guess he isn’t my “baby” anymore, but I think I will always think of him that way. We had a very fun party yesterday with family, and today was filled with activity. I’ll have to post pictures later because I am sooo tired, but he had two great days. He loved blowing out his candles. One in his donut yesterday morning, twice we lit it last night cuz he asked to do it again, and tonight at my Mom’s he had some leftover bday cake and wanted a candle. Why not! Today is his real birthday anyway. He has become an expert blower without any spit to contaminate things. 🙂
My mom reminded me tonight that this time two years ago, she and I were alone in my hospital room watching the Cardinals in the World Series. Alone, because most of the family had WS parties they were attending. My Dad and Lance were at the game. I got world’s greatest wife for that one. Pop the baby out in the morning, so that he can attend the game that night. He had a poster declaring World Series Baby Born Today with a blown up picture of Asher only a few hours old. Memories are sweet, but I enjoy making new ones with him every day.
Happy Birthday, my Sweet Asher(boo)!!!
WIDE awake
It is 6:21 a.m. I lied awake for the last hour or so and finally figured there was no hope in going back to bed. I’ve actually been awake off and on all night. Fifty things running through my head as we have a bunch of family coming over for 2 year old’s party this evening. It’s funny, my mom said when I was a little girl I would get so excited over any major event I’d make myself sick. Hasn’t changed much, I don’t throw-up any more, but I still find it hard to sleep in anticipation. Mostly it has to do with my brain that I just can’t turn off….if I’m not awake thinking about things; they invade my sleep as I dream about them.
Right now I am mulling over a plan for how to decorate Asher’s cake. I probably should just ice it and write Happy Birthday, but I really want to be creative. Problem is I’m not very creative and far from artistic. I’ll have to post a picture with whatever I do. Speaking of pictures, I’m gonna let my brain wander and put up some pics of pumpkin carving the other night. Lance says I tend to have a little ADD when it comes to my thought processes. I’ll break out with some comment, and he can’t figure out what I’m talking about much less where it originated. In my head it all made perfect sense, I can connect all the dots from let’s say airplanes to lasagna for dinner, but since he is not in my head, he rarely follows, “go figure.” 🙂
Back to pumpkin carving, Asher wasn’t real big on reaching his hand into the pumpkin, but I did manage to get him to enjoy the pleasures of squishing the “guts” through his fingers. He did enjoy eating the toasted seeds with me, which is my boy cuz Lance does not like them at all. This was Asher’s first experience pumpkin carving. His first year he was 5 days old, and last year was very busy with 1 year old party. He had a lot of fun, so I was glad we fit it in this year. Final product: penguins from “Madagascar”, Asher has never seen the movie but he loves “pengins”. We bought 2 pumpkins for my artistic husband; if we have time next week, I think he is going to try his hand at “Thomas the Tank Engine.”
Sorry for the early morning ramblings, but it helped. A small distraction before a long day and gave me another blog for the month of October…..look at that I’m blogging again. 🙂 Have a great Saturday, everyone!
The Age of Digital
I have to know, are you a picture printer? This means that after you take photos of your events and precious family moments, do you run to your nearest developer and print them. I am a downloader. I clean them off the memory card, and in digital format they remain (for the most part). Here we are at my son’s 2 year mark, and other than a few in frames, I have no prints of my little man. I can’t really say why this is, but I remember being in the same place at his first b-day. So I want to know from you my reader…do you print?
Almost 2
Ok, so once a month, not exactly how I planned to bounce back into posting. I mean it is not like we do nothing, and I have nothing to write about. I just don’t find the creative juices flowing, so I choose to not write. Ugh, what an excuse.
Next Sunday my little baby will be two years old. Time has flown by so quickly. I have great plans for a bday post but thought in a spare moment I would write for some sort of anticipation and accountability to actually do it. He has been making huge strides towards growing up in the last month.
1) We are at 90% with out potty training(#2 is giving us issues), any moms with helpful hints would be appreciated.
2) He gave up his “nu-nu” (pacifier) about 2 weeks ago. Never really even cried for it just had to adjust to falling asleep without the comfort of it. Naps were the worst, he’d play in there for 1 to 2 hours before dozing off.
3) For mommies of boys, you’ll appreciate this…we are potty trained and also mastering standing. It makes going in public bathrooms so much easier.
I just can’t get over how independent he is becoming. His favorite phrase right now is “Do it” translation: I want to accomplish that task by myself. I said to my mom the other day, he is just needing less and less help. My mom teased me by saying, “You had him getting you a diaper and his clothes by age 1.” Now that is an exaggeration he was barely walking then. However, I guess I did instill it; developing his desire to “help” mommy with the little things. I can’t complain other than to bemoan how fast he has grown-up. He will be a huge helper when little sister gets here. 3+ months away…..AAAAHHH!!!!
It’s a girl!!!
We headed out this morning to see my Dr. She confirmed what Lance and I have been feeling all along. It’s a girl! We are so excited to be having one of each…even though we now need to go out and go shopping to get her dressed. 🙂 I’ll post some pics later, but I’ll warn you she was not in the mood to be photographed, kind of looks like Skeletor.
In two months, my doctor will do another ultrasound for she is a tad concerned with the placement on my placenta. Hopefully then our little girl will be more agreeable to have her photo taken and confirm to 100% that she is a she. Dr. only would say 95% today. 🙂 So excited to share my news with my blogging friends. Thanks for you prayers.
Sisters
Just thought I would feature a quick pic of my sisters and I. We had family friends up from Florida. They are Florida gator fans….we are not, can you tell? Quite the rivalry but it is a fun one…so when we all got together for a BBQ my sisters and I dressed up in our FSU wear to torture them. It turned out to be a good picture, so I thought I would put it up. (I should clarify that FSU is my Dad’s alma mater).
